Analysis

Point of view- In "Ambush" the story is told through the point of view of Tim O'Brien. This gives us good incite into what the thoughts of the narrator where. We can tell that he wishes to tell his daughter about the war, but actually does not say it out loud. We also see how much the war has actually impacted him, and his wish that he did not throw that grenade and that the man just walked on by without noticing hime.

Mood- There is a reflective mood in the story "Ambush". When O'Brien's daughter asks him about the war he starts to think in his mind and recall the moment. This small question brings back the memory of the awful day he did kill a man. Throughout the rest of the book he is recalling the incident.
